Welcome! My name is Suzanne Selhorn and I co-wrote a book entitled 'SQL Server 2008 R2 Master Data Services' that came out in March 2011. I'm a technical writer at Microsoft and I work on the MDS team. I hope I can help you make some sense of MDS. It took me a while to learn (in fact I am still learning), but I'm happy to pass on what I know to you.

To download the sample data that goes with the book, go to the Book! page. In the book we also promised to provide more in-depth information about weighting in collections. For this info, see the Collection Weights page. Finally, if you're looking for the code samples listed throughout the book, go to www.mdsmodeler.com.

I've also tried to compile some resources based on your frequently asked questions.
  • If you're new to MDS or want to view case studies, check out the General Resources page.
  • If you're already in the midst of using MDS and you need help getting things done, try the Feature Resources page.
  • To make sure you have the latest and greatest version of MDS, check the Version Info page.

If you care to learn more about me personally or keep in touch with new MDS happenings, see my blog or follow me on twitter: @suzanne_selhorn.
If you have questions about anything presented on this site, please let me know. You can do this on the Contact Me page.

UPDATE 4/30/12:
If you're looking for code samples for the SQL Server 2012 release, go here: http://sqlserversamples.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=SQL%20Server%202012%20Master%20Data%20Services%20&IsNewlyCreatedPage=true

Tyler Graham is working on the next version of the book, which will hopefully be out in the summer/fall 2012 timeframe.
